Poon Hill lies in the foothills of the Annapurnas in the Himilayas. Whilst it is below the snowline in Nepal year-round, it is a wonderful hill to walk up for sunrise. Located to the south-west of the Anapurna massif and across a large river valley, it commands spectacular views of all four Anapurnas, Machupuchre, Nilgiri South and Daulagiri. The walk from Ghorepani to the summit is short, but if approaching from the north be prepared for a long, uphill day prior to the sunrise expedition with a 1,500m steep ascent.

The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a 4 – 5 day hike in the Annapurna mountain range. It takes a moderate level of fitness to complete. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek can be done year round, but in the thick of winter there might be quite a lot of snow and ice on the trail.
