Khumbu Himal, a linkage of Mount Everest range, is very famous by its name for expedition sports MT. Nuptse is located in its wings just south-west of Mount Everest. Nuptse I 7855m was first summited by a British expedition on the north-ridge (Scott-route) on May 16, 1961 by Dennis Davis and Sherpa Tashi. Nuptse shares in the glory of the Everest Massif and is viewed from the Thangboche Monastery while on en route trekking to Everest region. It appears as a massive wall guarding the approach to Everest.

The name Nup-tse is Tibetan and means west-peak, as it is the western part of the Lhotse-Nuptse-massif. By nature of its land structure, Nepal has become very famous for having expedition activities and we have plenty of Himalayas for becoming so and Nuptse is the most prominent example among them. The main ridge, which is separated from Lhotse by a 7556 m high saddle, is crowned by 7 peaks and goes west-northwest until its steep west-face drops down more than 2300m to the Khumbu-glacier. As other famous mountains have, Mt. Nuptse has different climbing routes and all of them are challenging and technical for non experienced climbers.

The North Face is supporting an expedition to climb a new route on the North Face of Nuptse. This route is an extremely steep ice and rock mixed climb called "The Snake". The steep and rocky south-face of Nuptse is 2500m high and 5 kilometers wide. The north slopes are rising from the Western valley with the upper part of the Khumbu-glacier above its famous icefall. Climbing activity is an exciting thing and climbing to this Mountain is just the synonymous of it.
